Cookie Policy
Version cookies-2026-10-23-draft.1 ·
Which cookies and similar browser storage we use, why, and how you can control them.
What this policy covers
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, IndexedDB and the offline cache of a service worker. This policy covers all of them, and calls them "storage".
Essential storage (always on)
This storage is needed for the platform to work, so it doesn't need your consent:
- Sign-in cookies (access and refresh tokens): keep you signed in, until you sign out or the session expires.
- Google sign-in cookies: set only while you sign in with Google, to complete it securely.
- Language cookie (NEXT_LOCALE): remembers the interface language you chose, for 1 year.
- Game progress (IndexedDB on the play site): saves your games on your device so you can continue, also offline. It stays until you clear it.
- Offline cache (service worker on the play site): stores the player and the puzzles you opened, so they work without a connection.
- Device identifier (IndexedDB): a random ID for this device, used only to sync your progress and to tell your devices apart when their copies differ.
Optional analytics (only with consent)
With your consent, we store an analytics identifier so we can count unique players. Without it, we still count views, starts and completions, but anonymously, with no identifier.
You can give or withdraw consent at any time. We record your choice together with the version of this policy you saw.
No advertising or third-party tracking
We use no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics and no tracking across websites. We don't use browser fingerprinting.
Puzzles embedded on other websites
When a puzzle is embedded on another website, our player runs inside that page. Browsers keep its storage separate for each website, so your progress in an embed can differ from your progress on our site, and some browsers delete it after a period of inactivity. If you are signed in, sync can recover it.
The website showing the embed is responsible for asking for your consent and passes your choice to our player. Without consent, the player uses no analytics identifier.
How to control storage
You can change your analytics choice in the consent settings. You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Deleting game progress from a device can't be undone, unless it was synced to your account.
Changes to this policy
If we add storage that needs consent, we ask for it again before using it. Every version of this policy has an identifier, shown at the top of this page.
